Priyanka Chopra going to Hollywood was the most talked-about thing in Bombay, and immediately after this, Deepika also signed a contract for a Hollywood movie. This created a situation where every star working in Bollywood was asked if they would also be joining the bandwagon. Sonam Kapoor was one such actress who voiced her desire to go to Hollywood but simultaneously stated that people have different tastes.
Admiring the careers carved by Chopra and Padukone, Sonam said, “I love how Priyanka has set her mark in America, and Deepika is doing the same. But I don’t want to go that way. I’d rather sign on with an agency, like I did in India, and work on projects that I really like. I learned from my earlier experiences in India when I just signed whatever came my way. Now, it’s about doing what feels right.
Sonam has appointed UTA to represent her in Hollywood but is yet to make her Hollywood debut. Recently seen in the thriller Blind, the actress confirmed that she would return to the screen soon. Filming for the next one starts next year, though details are still under wraps.
“I’m super excited to step back in front of the camera after my pregnancy. Acting brings me joy, and I love exploring diverse characters through my work. Human beings fascinate me, and I look forward to my next role,” she said.
The actress further said she would start returning to the sets early next year while details of her next project were being finalized. “It’s a big project, but I cannot disclose more until the official announcement is made,” she said.
Blind was a 2023 crime-thriller by Sonam and was a remake of the Korean film with the same name back in 2011. The movie was helmed by Shome Makhija, produced by Sujoy Ghosh, and marked the return of Sonam to the screen after six long years from The Zoya Factor.
