Stree 2 earns ₹106.5 crore at Indian box office in just two days

Stree 2 continues its dream run at the box office; takes in over Rs 100 crore.

The much-awaited horror comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has grossed over Rs. 100 crore within the first two days of its release, cementing its status as a blockbuster.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the sequel to the 2018 hit Stree opened nationwide on Wednesday. Benefiting from pre-release hype as well as being a holiday, Stree 2 amassed Rs. 8.5 crore on opening day from advance ticket bookings alone.

Day 1 collections stood at a mighty Rs. 76.5 crore. While there was a 42% dip on the second day, with earnings of Rs. 30 crore, its two-day total collection is a very strong Rs. 106.5 crore.

Directed once again by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 continues the story of the mysterious female spirit ‘Stree’ who creates havoc in Chanderi. Repeating their roles from the first film, lead pair Shraddha and Rajkummar are credited for driving fans to theaters in hoards to witness their on-screen chemistry again.

Cameos by stars like Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Varun Dhawan have also added to the thrill. With the weekend remaining, trade experts believe Stree 2 is on track to become a blockbuster, riding on the success of Dinesh Vijan’s earlier horror comedies in his cinematic universe.
