The second installment of the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Stree’ is hanging on well over the box office since hardly any competitor has come into the picture over the weeks. The movie, which Amar Kaushik directs, is now eyeing the record held by Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’, which is the highest Indian film.
As stated in the sack report, “Stree 2” cleared Rs 3 in the first week of its release. 25 crore on its 26th day in the theatres. These are good numbers, especially considering that all of these have been accumulated in almost a month of playing the theaters, many of which are block-buster movies that fail to achieve similar revenues within their second week of running.
Thus, the total film collections to date have crossed Rs 530. 65 crore more than other big 2023 releases such as ‘Gadar 2’ or ‘Pathaan. ’ The next target is to cross ‘Jawan’, which has made Rs 582 crore, according to the latest reports.
However, trade analyst Taran Adarsh has a slightly different picture; according to him, the total collection of Stree 2 is 555. 04 crore, which was only Rs 30 crore short of “Jawan.
“Stree 2” continued to hover around Friday business on its fourth Monday; major releases have been absent till “Devara” on September 27. As Thalapathy Vijay’s “Greatest Of All Times” dominates the South cinema this month, Bollywood stays low-key with Hansal Mehta’s “The Buckingham Murders” starring Kareena Kapoor penciled for this weekend’s release. This is the opening that “Stree 2” has to at least have the possibility of outgrossing the lifetime totals of “Jawan”.
