The Independence Day weekend welcomed three Bollywood films: Stree 2 is Kya Kehna, Khel Khel Mein, and Vedaa. While Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 was a blockbuster its opening, Akshay Kumar’s comedy and John Abraham’s film had a low turnout in morning shows.
Less than a month after its release, Stree 2 has already raked in ₹551 crore and left behind Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. The attention is now on Jawan, which is also one of the most awaited movies of this year.
Regarding box office collections, Stree 2 remains on top. Rajkummar Rao has something to say about Stree. When asked about the film’s performance, Rao, who reprised his famous role as Vicky, said that he clearly expected large crowds this weekend, but the weekday audience went even beyond his expectations.
“Stree has a massive fan following, but getting such numbers even on weekdays wasn’t expected,” he added. As for Vicky, Rao said that she has a wonderful and simple-hearted character and pointed out that relationships were the key aspect of the story. Referring to Rudra Bhaiyaa, his father’s character, and Shraddha’s character, particularly, he explained how decoding Vicky’s performance provides layering and emotional engagement for the movie audience.
