Sunny Leone warns against the use of ‘objectification’ for special numbers.
Actor Sunny Leone defended her special dance numbers at a recent press meet in Kochi. When asked about ‘item songs’ and the view that they objectify women, Sunny interrupted to say only the media uses that term.
She shared videos of people in Kerala enjoying her performances and said thousands visit theaters for such songs.
Sunny views them as entertainment rather than objectification. She believes usage of the latter term could cost jobs in cinema.
The actor recalled a time when people danced enthusiastically to numbers on stage. Throughout her career, Sunny has featured in popular special songs across languages.
She will soon be seen in films like Rangeela, Shero, Veeramadevi, and others as well as a number in The Battle of Bhima Koregaon.
The press meet was for the upcoming Tamil film Petta Rap starring Prabhu Deva and Vedhika. Director Sinu revealed Prabhu was roped in considering his dance skills were needed for the musical. Sunny will make a special appearance in the film about an action hero and pop singer’s journey.
