Taapsee Pannu highlights insider-outsider divide in Bollywood

The relatively new outsider who has carved her niche in Bollywood, Taapsee Pannu, also recently spoke about how outsiders face their hardships while star kids support each other whether they give good movies or not.

During an interview with ANI after the screening of her latest production ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, Taapsee said that there is one major difference between ‘outsiders’ and ‘insiders’. Another comment that I overheard her saying was, “What I like about most children of film industry personalities, the so-called ‘repo-babies,’ is that they hang out together, stand for each other, and defend one another.

Explaining this, Taapsee added that the outsiders are ‘so engrossed in hustling, struggling, and running ahead of each other that ‘sticking to each other’ is not a quality that one can see among them.

Regardless of the type of movies being made, or how successful it will be, they [star kids] only hang out with each other, which is not the case with us outsiders, Taapsee further elaborated.

The actress also associated this attitude with outsiders’ increased level of insecurity. “I believe that deep inside us, we will all continue to be uncomfortable with each other. That bear level is higher than in the industry, kids,” she explained.

Explaining the interaction between star children that makes them refer each other to producers for a sign, Taapsee agreed, “Yes, there is unity of a sort. And that is one aspect that we can learn, definitely. ”

Taapsee Pannu’s new film, ‘Haseen Dillruba,’ will be released on Netflix on 9 August this year. The film is a direct follow-up to her 2021 romantic thriller, Haseen Dillruba, and also stars Vikrant Massey and Sunny Kaushal.

While Taapsee is steadily removing barriers and opening the gate for other outsiders, her observations provide a rare perception regarding what lies inside the Bollywood industry and what causes outsiders to struggle with the lack of contacts.
