Meanwhile, sources close to the actor have claimed that Tom Cruise has been freaking out over the bags under his eyes. The Hollywood icon is allegedly “terrified” of getting cosmetic surgery for the fear a botched job will turn him into some sort of caricature. Following an embarrassing incident with fillers some time ago, Cruise has resorted to unusual beauty rituals, including cryotherapy and plunging into cold water.
An insider tells In Touch Weekly that the 62-year-old actor is leery of surgery due to the many botched jobs he’s witnessed throughout his career. The insider says Cruise is still traumatized by the “chipmunk cheek nightmare” when he was talked into getting facial fillers, which took months to fix.
Although he is still a heartthrob, Cruise’s aging has driven Him to pursue noninvasive means of addressing the bags under his eyes, and so far, he has not been successful. Friends say he is now going to the extremes to try and get rid of his wrinkles, especially through biohacking techniques.
Cruise is a cold exposure believer as the ultimate rejuvenation technique. He believes dunking his body into ice water reduces inflammation, firms up the skin, and keeps him healthy. He recently fitted an ice chamber at his house for cryotherapy, which gets frozen daily to shoot his metabolism and energy much better than caffeine.
Of course, he is aware that surgery can easily correct this imperfection, but Cruise knows his face value in the industry and thus appears to be resisting the lure of cosmetic surgery. On the work front, he has Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s untitled film lined up, which is expected to go into production next month. Other cast members include Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, and Jesse Plemons.
