The trailer of the Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, was liked enough by the audience. However, Triptii Dimri has faced the wrath of criticism for her dance choreography in the song “Mere Mehboob” from the movie, which Ganesh Acharya himself choreographed.
In one song sequence, Dimri is seen lying on the floor and doing a leg lift in a circular motion, followed by a torso shake. This has rung up a wave of negative responses from users on platforms like Reddit, where people say they are disappointed by the choreography, which they feel makes the song- sung by melodious Shilpa Rao-less good.
Comments of netizens include, “Now lightly spray some roach repellent and watch similar moves,” while another user added, “Love her voice, but every time I hear this, I think of Deepika in Besharam Rang or this song where the actresses are objectifying themselves. Her beautiful voice shouldn’t be used for this!
Critics continued to voice their discontent. “This cannot be real. It’s embarrassing for the whole film, especially the choreographers and anyone who thought this was a good idea,” one user said. Another chimed in, “Especially the last bit where they close up to her face. Genuinely feels humiliating.
Other comments emerged laced with more frustration, as one user claimed that Dimri is being typecast based on her bold scene in Animal. “They are making Triptii do anything; she will never be able to move on from Animal. She did one bold scene, and now they will ensure she repeats cheap moves or scenes repeatedly,” wrote a netizen. Another added, “I feel equally embarrassed, bad, awkward, and cringe. Not only is it on Triptii, but on the choreographer too, and everyone who greenlit this.”
People also feel that Dimri, after the film Animal, has just become too popular: “It’s as if the directors are using her popularity,” users commented. “The producers are sexualizing her to the point where she is looking more cheap compared to others.” “At least in that Bad Newz song, she looked hot,” said one user.
Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, who directed the Dream Girl franchise.
