Unconfirmed reports have emerged that actress Urmila Matondkar has sought to divorce her businessman husband, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, after eight years of marriage. Sources at a Mumbai court said the legal procedure to dissolve their marriage had been initiated, but the reasons for their separation were unknown. Sources close to them said it is an acrimonious split.
“After considering it, Urmila has decided to end her marriage with Mohsin and filed for divorce in court. The reasons are not clear, but it is learned that it’s not an amicable separation.
The couple, who married on February 4, 2016, in a private ceremony, also drew more public attention due to their interfaith marriage and ten-year age difference. While the two made several public appearances and even shared innumerable moments on social media, this nearly decade-long relationship has finally hit some serious bumps.
While Urmila remained a household name, Mohsin’s life was not as much in the public domain. The Kashmiri businessman and model met Urmila for the first time in 2014 at a wedding hosted by designer Manish Malhotra’s niece. Their marriage was thus very private, with only close friends in attendance, one of them being Malhotra. Post-marriage, the two visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar and then held a Nikah ceremony.
Mohsin, who earlier attempted his luck in Bollywood, was seen in films like It’s A Man’s World (2009) and Luck By Chance (2009). Hoiwever, he later shifted to the business domain is and learned to presently be working with ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra’s label. The divorce reports have not been commented on by Urmila or Mohsin yet.
