Vaishnavi Gowda, victim of disturbing deepfake controversy

Yet, recently, deepfake technology has recalcitrantly become a threatening tool that has been used to younger Kannada actress Vaishnavi Gowda, Bollywood, and other actresses from South India.

The episode was unveiled when Vaishnavi posted photos of herself on the social media website Facebook, after receiving an invitation to the awards ceremony of 2023 in a gorgeous red gown.

However, these sweet and beautiful pictures were quickly distorted and exploited by some villains as they utilized sophisticated deepfake technologies, to produce vulgar and obscene fakeImages of this actress in stimulating situations when in fact they are not.

The climax was when the culprits were not satisfied with the torture they inflicted on Vaishnavi, and even opened a fake facebook ids on the name of Vaishnavi and added those morphed images into the facebook profile. Not surprisingly, this provoked anger among the striking actress and her fans, who call for perpetrators of this gross encroachment to be punished.

Such risks due to deepfake technology have gained serious consideration from the Central Government and they have expressed their willingness to pass new laws to combat such crimes. For now, the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police have acted and opened a correct investigation to arrest the culprits.

While the fight against deepfakes goes on, the experiences of Vaishnavi Gowda, for example, should make people realize the necessity to address a new threat to personal privacy and safety.

The entire entertainment industry community and everyone following this or similar cases or has been a victim of such actions will be observing this case and the actions that will be taken to ensure that such actions do not occur in the future.
