Shah Rukh Khan once again impressed on the silver screen in 2023 with the blockbuster Pathan, which was well received by the audience. The film received a lot of love and proved to be a hit at the box office. Now, in an interesting development, Yashraj Films is said to be starting work on Pathan 2. According to a report by Peeping Moon, Shah Rukh Khan is expected to start shooting for Pathan 2 later this year.
While Siddharth Anand directed Pathan’s first film, another director will take over the sequel. According to sources, Yashraj Films strategically chooses different directors for each installment of its detective universe, ensuring fresh perspectives for the characters and the stories. This tradition will continue with Pathan 2, as Siddharth Anand steps aside to make way for a new director.
Though the replacement director for Pathan 2 is yet to be finalized, the insider revealed that they are already planning to launch the project later this year. It is worth noting that the collaboration between Sidharth Anand and Yashraj Films is far from over. The filmmaker is set to direct Tiger Vs Pathan, which indicates a bright future for the director and the Universal Spy franchise. Shah Rukh Khan made his much-awaited comeback after Pathan’s 2018 film Zero, releasing on January 2023.
Starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, the film has been well appreciated by the audience and has crossed a major milestone: earning over Rs 1000 crore at the box office. Pathan 2 will join Yashraj Films’ detective universe, which includes successful franchises like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathan, Tiger 3, and others. Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR are working on War 2, while an untitled Spy Universe film with Alia Bhatt is also in the pipeline.
