BPL group founder T P Gopalan Nambiar passes away at 94

T P Gopalan Nambiar, founder of Indian electronic company BPL Group, passed away on Thursday, according to family sources. He had been in poor health for some time and passed away at his home around 10:15 am; it emerged from a family member to PTI.

Commonly referred to as TPG, he was the father-in-law of BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

News of his death brought tributes from across the political divide. Former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said on X, “I am Anguished at the demise of Shri TPG Nambiar, founder of the iconic BPL brand, who was a long-time acquaintance. Shri Nambiar’s colossal contribution and legacy will never be forgotten. My heartfelt condolences to his family.”

For many, his memory will always evoke the fact that he was a pioneer in electronics, and this is a great loss to the community of businesspeople and his family.
