Byju’s faces backlash over layoffs without notice period or performance improvement plans

Recently, Byju’s, one of the well-known tech giants, has commenced its layoffs, circulating rumors that the company has terminated some of its employees without any warning period, claimed the sources as quoted by Moneycontrol. It has been claimed that personnel terminations are being performed via phone calls without decent notice and that these employees’ anxiety and uncertainty about their working status are skyrocketing. The business has struggled with the shortage of finances and conflicts with its investors and stakeholders, which have eventually led to the issuance of job cuts, more than ten thousand in the last two years.

The current round of layoffs, expected to displace from 100 to 500 workers, especially sales employees, is one of the most recent and severest cutbacks in the company’s history. This sizable downsizing, which has occurred out of nowhere, presents the company with a danger of instability. And also raises questions about its ability to overcome difficult economic conditions. Byju’s company representative disclosed that the company is going through a transformation process of its business which involves optimization of operations, controlling of costs, and better management of cash flow. The spokesperson was also quick to mention that this amazing show of unity stems from the fact that there are ongoing legal processes that have created a heavy burden for both employees and the general work environment.

The employees who are considered affected have received emails confirming their termination, and reportedly, they are to turn over the company property and sensitive information to the company as well. Through a strategic settlement of all outstanding matters by its exit policy, Byju aims to reach the structured finalization of our agreements. This case also gives us an insight into the problems employees go through while dealing with unsecurable job opportunities, and it is, therefore, that good communication and support may be of help during such difficult times.
