India’s manufacturing prowess acknowledged by China

India is gradually carving a niche for itself as the manufacturing destination of the world, a thing that even China, a bitter neighbor and competitor, discerns.

In its recent article, the Chinese state-run newspaper Global Times cites data to support the fact that India has displaced Italy to fifth place in the league of top ten manufacturers worldwide. It also pointed out that the manufacturing value added of the country is reasonably high, at $ 456 billion.

The Global Times’ previously unhappy relationship with India has shifted to a more concordant note about the article’s subject—India’s manufacturing sector.

The newspaper said loud and clear that “China remains the global king in manufacturing,” but it also agreed that “India has leapfrogged to the top five” in manufacturing.

This change of attitude from China toward India occurred when the two faced off in military confrontations in Galwan Valley, and India became more aggressive in its relations with the Asian giant.

Another aspect of the recognition of the change like inter-state relations with India and India’s emerging global role is “strong economic growth, improvements in urban governance and changes in its approach to international relations especially it reflected by a change in its approach to relations with China as indicates the report.

China’s peak is $4,659 billion while manufacturing from the United States is $2,497 billion. Germany, Japan, and India round out the top five competitors, which confirms that there are manufacturing giants worldwide.

China seems to have gradually started accepting the Indian giant as a global manufacturing hub that has come to stay as India keeps on improving its manufacturing capabilities.

Further, this paper has noted that there may be a shift from hostility to India to constructive engagement in the future due to the realization that India will stay as a major manufacturing power globally.
