This is similar to the agreement that IndiGo has signed with Turkish Airlines, but in this agreement, while IndiGo has been allowed to sell tickets beyond Istanbul, the right has not been accorded to Qatar Airways.
IndiGo, India’s largest carrier, is likely to introduce a new type in what is likely to be a wet lease deal. The carrier, which holds records for the biggest single and direct aircraft orders with Airbus, will initially admit a few MAX-8 aircraft from partnership with Qatar Airways, all of which will operate flights to/from Doha from different locations across India.
This is the statement made by the management during the Q&A session with analysts after the declaration of Q1-FY25 results. IndiGo mentioned a profit of INR 2278.8 crore in the quarter, which makes it the seventh consecutive quarter of profit,” COO, Airtel.
During its analyst call after the declaration of results today, the airline said that it would induct these aircraft either on wet or damp lease.
It is also worth knowing that Doha is the main hub for the airline company known as Qatar Airways. This news has circulated in the media since early this year and was expected to operate during this busy season.
But it was postponed several shorts of time, and finally, today the first aircraft has arrived in India. Step by step, the airline shall use 75 of its 82 frequencies to Doha on the MAX 8 being wet-leased from Qatar Airways.
