Jiohotstar.com was initially registered by a Delhi-based engineer, who had asked Reliance to fund his Cambridge education in lieu, which Reliance refused to do.
A Business Standard report said Reliance’s subsidiary Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd has finally acquired the website domain jiohotstar.com, thus resolving months of legal and commercial disputes.
According to the report, which cited the latest WHOIS records, Manish Painuly, senior director at Viacom18, is currently the domain’s registrant and administrative contact. WHOIS is an internet protocol that searches databases for a website’s users or assignees.
Painuly, a senior director at Viacom18 who has been with the company for more than 16 years, currently works on digital transformation, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The report read that the domain is registered under Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd, which is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
