Tata Motors is the leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India, having secured a contract to supply 1,297 bus chassis to UPSRTC. This is the third large order from UPSRTC in a span of one year; the total order placed during this period has exceeded 3,500 units. The LPO 1618 chassis have been procured under a competitive e-bidding process, which Tata Motors has emerged successfully. Deliveries would happen in a phased manner along with mutually agreed terms and conditions.
The Tata LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis is designed for intercity and long-distance travel, known for its superior performance, comfort for passengers, and low TCO. Anand S, Vice President and Head-Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors, said, “We would like to thank the Uttar Pradesh Government and UPSRTC for this opportunity to supply modern fleet of bus chassis.
He said, “This order demonstrates Tata Motors’ commitment to providing the best-in-class mobility solutions and is a testament to the company’s ability to meet the increasing transportation needs of UPSRTC.” Anand further highlighted the technological prowess and reliability of Tata Motors in the public transport segment and added, “We are looking forward to starting supplies immediately, as instructed by UPSRTC.
This order comes in the wake of previous contracts of 1,350 units in December 2023 and 1,000 units in October 2024, reinforcing Tata Motors’ position as a preferred mobility solutions provider for various State Transport Undertakings (STUs) and fleet owners. The company’s mass-mobility solutions play an important role in India’s public transportation network, connecting urban and rural areas and facilitating seamless mobility for millions of citizens.
