The all-new Toyota Camry makes a stylish comeback with an all-new design and more equipment on offer, but the hybrid powertrain remains. At ₹48 lakh (ex-showroom), is it worth the money?
The Camry has a long, sleek profile; the design has been more evolution than revolution. The long bonnet flows into a more refined grille, and the slim headlights get new internals and boomerang-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs).
The commanding presence is furthered by the bold bumper and deep side crevices. Dimensionally, there are few changes, with a length increase of just 45mm courtesy of redesigned front and rear ends. The 18-inch alloy wheels are of new shape, while our special edition test unit came with a contrasting black roof and some additional sporty elements.
Inside, too, the cabin is sufficiently appointed to match the external sophistication: a 12.3-inch touchscreen in resplendent color support wirelessly doing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay; soft-touch material at dashboard and door trims; some of the helpful touches that have been retained include practical manual AC controls; spacious and supportive front seats with ventilation; sunroof, wireless charging, and 9-speaker JBL sound system is part of the other convenience list.
The rear-seat experience is a whole package of luxury with ample space to stretch, electrically reclining seats add to the feel. The addition of sun blinds and a tablet to control the climate adds further. Mechanically, this hybrid powertrain has a 2.5L NA Petrol with a self-charging battery combining for an output of 230 HP/ 221 NM to an eCVT Gearbox.
The Camry offers silent drives right from EV mode and seamless transitions wherever required. Claimed to return 25.49 kmpl, it’s stable on the highways as well. At the same time, the limited ground clearance may not make this car as versatile; the luxurious offering it makes the Camry a good fit in its segment.
