Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has come out with harsh words for the Indian cricket team after it lost the series to New Zealand at home. This result put Kiwis in the second Test match at Pune by 113 runs to register a 2-0 three-match series victory and was India’s first home series loss in nearly 12 years.
In the subsequent video on his YouTube channel, Shehzad pointed to New Zealand as the deserved winner while dismissing India as ‘’paper tigers.’’ He said, “New Zealand came to India and made a mess of them as if the Indians had no right to say no, no to them, behaving like children and then being beaten black and blue and left for dead.” It says they’ve pranked India. People are saying, ‘Kagaz ke sher aur ghar mein dher.’ (Figuratively meaning paper lions and how they faltered at home.)
He said that India was careless, looking at the home advantage they were enjoying, and told that they were not getting aggressive enough. He said, “With regards to being bowled out for 46 runs in the first Test, the opening batsman Rohit Sharma said everyone has a bad day.”
I agree with that, but their showing in this Test shows complacency. Rohit likes to say that their team does not indulge in unnecessary talking, but morale seemed lacking in the previous two Test matches. It felt like schoolboys were playing.”
New Zealand has registered their first series win on Indian soil since 1955, which also provides an end to India dominating on home soil for eighteen bilateral series win series, the last defeat coming at the hands of England back in December 2012. India’s batting was found wanting against New Zealand spinners, especially Mitchell Santner, the series witnessing two dismal performances of 46 and 156. More pertinent questions arise about the team’s ability in the wake of a five-Test tour of Australia next month.
