Ajit Agarkar urged to persuade Kohli for young Talent in T20 World Cup: Report

Yet as the cricket community around the globe is in the twilight zone of the T20 World Cup 2024, uncertainty is being witnessed around Virat Kohli’s presence in the squad. Although he had a magnificent 2022 edition, at 34 he has been under a microscope, especially by selectors who question his capability to adjust to the changes in T20 cricket.

With the luck of IPL 2024 strongly deciding the final teams, it is reported that Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector, has been given the sensitive duty of speaking to Kohli and encouraging him to allow fresh faces to play. The combat between the two is considered to be the trigger for Kohli to be more aggressive in the last T20I series against Afghanistan though his best score in the game is just 29.

The committee’s issues mainly arise from the belief that the slow pitches chosen as the World Cup venues, and the grounds in the West Indies, the host nation, are not conducive to Kohli’s natural batting style. Therefore, the selectors have expressed their interest in these players for the middle order with Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, and Tilak Varma all vying for selection.

Nevertheless, though, the door is still ajar for him, should he make a brilliant impact in IPL 2024 which could be the reason to give him a second chance by the selectors. However, if Virat can successfully demonstrate that he can be flexible with the shorter format of T20, then he still has a good chance of being included in the squad of the astounding team.

In addition, Kohli Gautam hasn’t yet been called by the Royal Challengers Bangalore team before the IPL season begins. He recently had a son and decided not to play in the whole England series.
