Arshdeep Singh has final say after Riyan Parag’s aggressive assault

Parag’s aggressive innings were cut short by Arshdeep in the Duleep Trophy tie.

Riyan Parag came out with attacking intent against India D on day one of the Duleep Trophy match. The young batter started by smacking pacer Vidwath for a huge six.

Parag was particularly severe on Arshdeep Singh, hitting the left-arm seamer for three boundaries in one over to get his innings going.

Arshdeep was irritated with the onslaught and looked to bounce Parag out. But the latter ramped one short ball over the slip for another boundary.

Parag continued to play aggressively, striking the bowlers to all parts of the ground in his brisk knock. However, his cameos have often lacked substance in four-day games.

When Arshdeep changed his plans, he tested Parag with fuller lengths. The batter fell for the trap, edging one delivery to the second slip where Padikkal took the catch.

Elated with the dismissal, Arshdeep let out a roar and had some words with Parag as the batter made the long walk back after scoring a quickfire 37.

While Parag came out all guns blazing, his dismissiveness ultimately cost him his wicket against Arshdeep’s clever change in tactics.
