Asia cup hosting duties revealed: India in 2025, Bangladesh in 2027

The ACC has listed the number of Men’s Asia Cup hosting countries and years, including India hosting the event in 2025 and Bangladesh in 2027. According to the IEOI document that the ACC published for the Sponsorship Rights for the 2024-2027 period, both tournament editions will be 50-over.

The document introduces the idea of holding the tournament in India and Bangladesh. However, the schedules and dates, years, formats, and/or venues related to hosting are not conclusive, suggesting that the hosting arrangements of the event are yet to be confirmed.

The tournament, scheduled to be held in 2023, was supposed to be held in Pakistan, but later, due to political issues Pakistan shares with India, the event was co-hosted with Sri Lanka. All the matches of the Indian team, including the knockouts, were held in the island nation, and the team tasted success by thrashing Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final.

Mohammed Siraj was the hero for India, especially in the final. He bowled brilliantly to restrict Sri Lanka to a mere 50 runs and took six wickets. India endured a single loss in the final power Play of Super 4, losing to Bangladesh by a mere six runs.

Today, Gautam Gambhir captains the Indian team, which just had a new coach, Rahul Dravid, who left soon after they won the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. Gambhir’s era began with a victory because India clinched the T20I series against Sri Lanka with a match to spare.

Suryakumar Yadav has become the skipper of the Indian T20I team, which has left the retired Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja behind. The new generation of T20I players has started with two big wins against the Lankan side.
