Axar Patel shines in IPL, boosts World Cup selection chances

Spin sensation Axar Patel, who has become one of India’s most celebrated all-rounders, amazed cricket fans across the world with his performance in this year’s IPL match. He showcased his talent in batting and convincingly enforced his team’s selection ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

For young Patel, who faced the Impactor Subs Rule that had taken away his batting opportunities, he proved to be different to everyone during the game between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.

Before the match, Patel was elevated to number three ahead of the captain, Rishabh Pant. In the partnership of 113 runs, they played a crucial role in the latter’s match-winning knocks.

He opened his account for the campaign with his maiden fifty of the season, combined with Pant’s thrilling batting, propelling Delhi Capitals towards a powerful total of 224/4. The team duly breached this gap in the final score and reached yet another exhilarating 5-1 triumph, maintaining their playoff contention.

When Patel spoke about the need for ways to showcase his talent more, the Delhi Capitals management heard it. In this match, Patel’s performance was thrilling enough to prove his worth for the World Cup India team. Finally, besides a great fielding performance reflected in the 1/28 score in 3 overs, he images other remarkable playing results.

The two all-rounders, of course, have kept their batting stats at par with each other. Also, Jadeja hasn’t been able to make as many contributions with the ball as Patel has, and hence, he has taken the better position among the two. As for now, a place in the squad is certainly his.

This time around, the selectors will have quite a test with the spinners. Patel’s impressive IPL tournament is an additional factor that adds to his case of playing for the team in the tournament.
