Captain Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were on Tuesday left out of the Pakistan team for the five-match T20 series against New Zealand. Salman Ali Agha replaced Rizwan as the T20 captain with all-rounder Shadab Khan being included and appointed his vice-captain.
Rizwan has been kept as ODI captain following the dismal performance of the team in the Champions Trophy. The selectors have refrained from making a big change in the one-day side and kept most of the players who failed in the current ICC event.
Babar is also kept in the ODI side but batters Saud Shakil and Kamran Ghulam have been dropped. The selectors have also rested fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf from the one-day team. Pakistan have five T20s and three ODIs in New Zealand from March 16.
His injury followed his return to the Pakistan team last month in the three-nation tournament while Saim was injured while fielding during the Test series in South Africa earlier this year.
