The seasoned Shakib Al Hasan, the all-rounder, is in trouble once again. This time, the cricket veteran and the former Member of Parliament of the Awami League have been named, alongside many others, in a murder that took place during the protests in Bangladesh.
The report by ESPNCricinfo on the case alleges that the deceased is Mohammed Rubel, a garment worker who was part of the protest at Ring Road in Adabor on August 5. The FIR Report was filed by the victim’s father, Abul Bari @ Mohammed Rubel.
The Daily Star reported, in the case statement, that “the complainant hinted that some of the accused, according to instructions either directly or indirectly from some others, fired while hundreds of students, including Rubel.”.
To this also the report was added that Rubel was injured in the firing and succumbed to his injuries in a hospital after two days.
According to an ESPNCricinfo report, the veteran all-rounder was not in the country on 5 August or the times of protest, during which Hasina resigned as the Prime Minister of the Country.
It is reported he was in Canada during the time playing in the Global T20 Canada League, where he was playing for Bangla Tigers Mississauga in Brampton. Before that, he was also in the United States of America, where he also featured in Major League Cricket.
