Bangladesh announces squad for Tests against India.
Bangladesh have announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against India starting September 19 in Chennai.
The only change from the squad that defeated Pakistan 2-0 is the omission of pacer Shoriful Islam who is recovering from a groin injury.
In Shoriful’s place, wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali has received his maiden Test call-up. He has nearly 3000 first-class runs along with T20I experience for Bangladesh. Another injured player from the Pakistan tour, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, has retained his spot in the squad.
The second and final Test will be played in Kanpur from September 27. The series holds importance as part of the ongoing World Test Championship where India and Australia currently occupy the top two positions with Bangladesh placed fourth.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue leading Bangladesh in the red-ball fixtures against the formidable Indian side.
