Bumrah-Shami combo unbeatable, Says Ex-India bowling coach

The Indian cricket team has the next playing weeks covered only if you’ll consider the three-match T20Is and 5-match ODIs series against Sri Lanka that has just ended but wouldn’t for the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh, which kicks off September 19.

Though one or two players from the Test squad would be seen in action in the Duleep Trophy in the first week of September, the rest would have a long, piled-up wait until the start of a long season of red-ball cricket.

The spotlight will again be on Bumrah, Siraj, and Shami (when he is fit for competitive action again) and even possibly on Arshdeep Singh, who could be in line for Tests.

India’s former bowling coach Paras Mhambrey had a rather open conversation with News18 CricketNext recently where he delved into a number of topics with regards to the Indian fast bowlers, the uniqueness of Bumrah, the future of Arshdeep, and the like.

One might say skill-wise, Bumrah is a freak of nature. Well, of course, yes, as a bowler, you just watch; it’s a little technical because he has to run up, he has to run up, you know, take that momentum through, go through, but at the same time, if you look at Bumrah at the moment, it is almost like he just takes five steps.

Of course now his little length and the run-up are, but it doesn’t matter to him, and it shouldn’t to anyone else. Even if you tell him to bowl just for four steps, he’ll be as fast as what he is doing.
