England’s Jordan stars with a hat-trick against the USA.
West Indies-born Chris Jordan produced a stunning hat-trick to put England in a strong position against the USA in their T20 World Cup Super Eight clash in Barbados on Sunday.
Jordan, who was born in Barbados, returned figures of 4/13 from 1.4 overs as USA were bowled out for 115.
The pacer dismissed Corey Anderson and cleaned up the tail to claim a hat-trick in the penultimate over – removing Ali Khan, Nosthush Kenjige, and Saurabh Netravalkar.
Jordan became only the ninth player to achieve the milestone in T20 World Cup history. He is also the first England cricketer to scalp a T20 WC hat-trick.
Australia’s Pat Cummins had taken consecutive hat-tricks recently.
Jordan’s heroics guided England to a comfortable victory target of 116 from their 20 overs. With a formidable batting order, the win looks like a formality.
His standout performance in Kensington Oval, his hometown ground, made for a special occasion. England needs around 18 runs in the final over to seal a semi-final spot.
