Chris Martin invites Bumrah to join Coldplay backstage

Coldplay’s Chris Martin Surprises Fans During Mumbai Concert by Giving an Unexpected Shoutout.

Coldplay performed in Mumbai on Saturday, an event neither music nor cricket fans will ever forget. It ended with a surprise from the lead singer, Chris Martin.

As the popular song ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ was building up to the drop, the band killed it. Martin addressed the puzzled crowd, only to make a cheeky comment: “Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage.”

The fans at the venue cheered when Martin said that, sending social media into a frenzy. Many thought that the Indian pacer would make his way to the stage. But that was not meant to be the case. His comment on one of India’s most popular cricket stars gave the fans something to remember.

He comes into the contest after a superlative effort in India’s Test tour of Australia recently. Though India could not retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah’s efforts received full praise from both teams. Plenty of former cricketers spoke highly of his performances, and Bumrah took away the individual honors with 32 wickets in the five Tests he played.

India hoped that breaks would come their way through Bumrah, but the fast bowler received a jolt to his back in the last stages of the fifth Test and could not bowl in the previous innings.

He faces another injury setback when the Indian side readies up for Champions Trophy 2025, a more pertinent event since the Indian side didn’t cut to be part of the World Test Championship final in this cycle 2023-25.
