CA reiterates the offer to host the India-Pakistan bilateral series.
Cricket Australia has again proposed hosting a bilateral series between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, provided the two cricket boards agree to play. In the Schedule released for the rest of 2022, CA stated both teams will tour Australia in November. While Pakistan plays 3 ODIs and T20Is, India’s 5-Test series begins 4 days later.
The last bilateral fixtures between India and Pakistan occurred in 2012-13, with matches now confined to ICC events due to political tensions.
Recalling the jam-packed India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match at MCG recently, CA chief executive Nick Hockley said they were keen to host such contests at the iconic venue.
Peter Roach, CA’s head of scheduling, expressed interest in organizing a trilateral series involving the sides. The last such meet was in 1999-2000.
Roach acknowledged every country aims to see India and Pakistan clash on their soil. However, the current FTP has no space for tri-series.
CA will continue dialogue on any future opportunities for the rivals to engage fans worldwide with their compelling on-field rivalry, reiterated Cricket Australia.
