As the countdown begins for the much-anticipated Women’s T20 Asia Cup, all eyes will be on the high-voltage encounter between India and Pakistan on July 19 in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.
The continental tournament, scheduled from July 19 to July 28, will witness the participation of the top eight teams of the region. Unlike the previous edition, this year’s event will feature the teams divided into two groups.
Group A comprises India, Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal, while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Malaysia. The top two sides from each group will advance to the semifinals, slated for July 26, with the final scheduled for July 28.
India, the most successful team in the Asia Cup with seven title wins, will be keen to defend their crown and maintain dominance in the regional tournament. However, they will face a stern test from their neighbors Pakistan, who will be eager to upset the defending champions and clinch their maiden Asia Cup title.
After the high-octane clash against Pakistan, India will take on UAE on July 21 and Nepal on July 23, completing their group-stage engagements.
The tournament will feature an all-female team of match officials again, adding to the event’s significance.
Fans can look forward to an exciting and closely contested Women’s T20 Asia Cup, with the India-Pakistan encounter set to be the tournament’s highlight.
