Chennai Super Champs Unveil Fiery Jersey, Sathyabama University Joins as Principal Partner.
In a vibrant event held at Sathyabama University in Chennai, celebrated actor-entrepreneur Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the owner of Chennai Super Champs, unveiled the team’s striking yellow-and-red jersey ahead of the inaugural World Pickleball League (WPBL).
The occasion also marked the announcement of Sathyabama University as the team’s principal partner, further cementing the city’s connection to the sport of pickleball.
The jersey’s fiery design, reflecting Chennai’s unwavering passion for sports, is set to make its debut on the court when the league kicks off on January 24, 2025.
“Chennai has an unmatched vibe—spirited, fiery, and always up for a challenge! That’s exactly what we wanted the Chennai Super Champs jersey to reflect,” said Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the team’s owner. The actress-entrepreneur expressed her pride in bringing Chennai’s energy and determination to the global pickleball stage.
Highlighting the partnership, Mariazeena Johnson, Chancellor of Sathyabama University, emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering ambition and excellence among today’s youth. “This partnership reflects our dedication to supporting the growth of sports, and we are delighted to be a part of Chennai Super Champs’ journey in the WPBL,” she said.
Head Coach Joey Farias echoed the team’s enthusiasm, stating, “Chennai Super Champs is ready to represent the city with pride and determination.
The support and enthusiasm from the city, and now from Sathyabama University, will undoubtedly fuel our players’ drive to excel.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was the first-ever franchise owner to invest in WPBL, is committed to putting Chennai on the global map of pickleball, a rapidly growing sport that celebrates inclusivity across age groups and genders.
