Gautam Gambhir hints at India’s XI for 1st Test against Bangladesh

Gautam Gambhir too opined that the opposition has to come to terms with playing on spin tracks; however, the first Test is likely to be held on the red soil track in Chennai, where the emphasis would be on creating conditions that are more suited for the fast bowlers.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir on Wednesday virtually sealed the team’s playing time for the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Gambhir also wanted the opposition to know that they must practice play on spin-friendly conditions in spite of the fact that the first Test in Chennai is expected to be played on the red soil track, which normally offers conditions that aid the fast bowlers.

Regarding the playing eleven of the Indian team, Gambhir dropped small hints about how the Rohit Sharma’s led team might be able to set against Bangladesh.

Sarfaraz Khan And Dhruv Jurel Might Have To Wait A Bit To Get Their Chance As Playing Time, Gambhir Said, But All But Conceded That Rishabh Pant And KL Rahul Are Set To Be Part Of The Playing XI. This will be a Test debut for both Sarfaraz and Jurel, who came into the side during the series against England this year.

We don’t drop anyone. We just select the players, which can ideally fit into the formation of XI. These are all important reasons as to why we are the team that believes in the selection of the XI.

Get in Jurel; he is a phenomenal player. When Pant is coming in, sometimes people have to wait. Same with Sarfaraz. Yes, there will be opportunities, and you have to wait,” Gambhir said in a press conference on the eve of the start of the 1st Test.

Gambhir spared even bigger words for ‘the’spin twins’ of India, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. The comment that Gambhir made for both the two is a clear suggestion that the two of them, together with Kuldeep Yadav, will make a three-pronged spin assault.
