‘Maxi’ calls time-out to recharge batteries.
In a bid to find lost form, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has opted to sit out of RCB’s remaining games. Addressing the media after another disappointing result, a candid Maxwell revealed feeling mentally & physically drained. “It’s been tough going out there and not contributing as I’m known to. I feel it’s best I make way for someone fresh,” he said.
Maxi has been Royal Bengaluru’s go-to man in crunch situations. But persistent struggles against pace have seen his morale take a beating. Even fluent drives are finding fielders of late.
Captain Faf du Plessis understood Maxwell’s decision was made with team interests in mind. “You have to respect greats like him. A break should help Maxi reorganize thoughts and bounce back stronger,” Faf remarked.
Legends, too, feel a timeout may do the dashing dasher a world of good. Sunil Gavaskar observed Maxwell appears uncomfortable facing firebarrows around chest height presently.
With Maxwell misfiring, RCB’s hopes of revival have suffered a massive blow. But the franchise will back their big-hitting alien to utilize this opportunity to heal mentally.
If the script flippers, Maxwell will re-join energized and explosive as ever. For now, the striking finisher will look to switch off, regain lost zeal, and wreak havoc soon.
