As per the ATS, the 28-year-old accused Sahdevsinh Gohil was approached by a Pakistani spy, Aditi Bharadwaj, who employed him to share information about under-construction and current Border Security Force and Indian Navy installations in the region.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a contract health worker who was deployed in the border region of Kutch on charges of sharing sensitive information about military installations with a Pakistani spy, officials said on Saturday.
Following ATS, the 28-year-old accused Sahdevsinh Gohil was allegedly hired by a Pakistani agent, Aditi Bharadwaj, to disclose the details of under-construction and existing Border Security Force and Indian Navy establishments around.
As per Superintendent of Police (ATS) Siddharth Korukonda, Gohil, a native of Kutch’s Lakhpat taluka, has been providing Pakistani spy images and videos of various BSF and navy locations in Kutch region through WhatsApp for remuneration since June 2023.
The Pakistani agent initially reached out to Gohil, who was a contractual health worker at a government facility in Mata No Madh village of Lakhpat, on his WhatsApp number in June 2023 and befriended him.
Once she gained his confidence, the agent asked for photographs and videos of BSF and Indian Navy offices and under-construction areas around his village. Gohil provided the asked for classified details through WhatsApp,” said the SP, explaining that Gohil was aware that she was a Pakistani spy.
In January 2025, Gohil utilized his Aadhaar (unique identity number) to buy a SIM card and passed on the OTP to the Pakistani agent, allowing her to access WhatsApp corresponding to that number from the neighbouring country.
He was taken to the ATS office a couple of days back for interrogation based on a tip and his phone was also sent for forensic examination, Korukonda stated.
“Forensic examination showed that both the numbers on which Gohil used to provide the information are now being operated from Pakistan. We also found that he had been paid Rs 40,000 in cash by an unknown person some time back for providing that information,” he added.
