Hardik Pandya stuns with sensational one-handed catch in T20I

The lovely right-handed Hardik Pandya again amazed fans with his breathtaking one-handed catch during the second T20I between India and Bangladesh. The over from Varun Chakravarthy saw Rishad Hossain attempt a slog sweep; he mis-hit it as Pandya, running in from deep mid-wicket, neatly disposed of the latter with a spectacular athletic display.

This catch, taken while still on the run, earned fans on social media the nickname “Catch of the Decade.”

This catch was a testament not just to Pandya’s brilliance in the field but also to his awareness. He neatly avoided a collision with teammate Abhishek Sharma, who was also going after the ball but from the other side.

Online reactions came thick and fast, with one user praising his hard work to get fit and another terming the catch as “Best catch of the year.” Several fans even used this opportunity to comment on Pandya’s captaincy snub, as they felt he shouldn’t have been snubbed based on issues of fitness.

Supplementing his brilliant fielding was Pandya’s telling contribution with the bat, 32 runs off a mere 19 balls, as India posted a very impressive total of 221 runs in their 20 overs. This was one of those matches in which Pandya stamped his class in both departments and showed just how integral he is to the team.
