Heartbreak for Mumbai Indians as RCB clinch thrilling victory in WPL eliminator

Mumbai Indians nearly reached the Women’s Premier League’s final but suffered a heartbreaking loss against RCB in the eliminator. This was the major reason for Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s visible despair. MI continually fought hard in their attempt to restrict RCB to 135/6 in search of victory. However, in the end, MI could not achieve this objective in the final session of the run-chase, delivering a tense loss, scored by RCB by just 5 runs in Delhi stadium.

The elimination of run-outs in the crucial final overs contrasted with Harmanpreet Kaur’s unfortunate bowing out and deprived the team of momentum. Mumbai Indians played the latest overs with experts like Harmanpreet, Sajana, and Amelia Kerr at the crease but still failed to make any boundaries. They ended up losing three wickets in the last three overs.

Recognizing their outstanding bowling, which was a huge factor in suppressing RCB to less than 140 runs, Harmanpreet congratulated their team for taking wickets, which successfully barred the opponents from scoring. Although their batting line-up collapsed under pressure when just a requirement of 16 runs, the fact that they did very well and helped secure the victory is acceptable.

However, our match was impressive as we bowled better, which saw them not reaching the 140 marks. Our hitters also fared well, but we lost those last 12 balls. 12 deliveries were the only item left to be fielded by us as a boundary; however, we failed to do so. I played this game and it always made me to feel tight, thus I became richer in knowledge.  She said on the game.

“After I was taken out from the team, the collapse of our batters was made, and this became the breaking point,”

The striking feature of this match was that RCB consistently held a good run rate at the expense of their opponents, who failed to catch up with the run rate. The mounting pressure as the target seemed farther and farther chiselled a 5-run victory for RCB.

With the women’s attention-grabbing tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore take on the title-defending Delhi Capitals group at the former’s prospective home stadium. It is important to note that the duo are fighting for the first time in the league’s history, and the 17th of March match is not the simple IPL finals but a milestone to be created by any team.
