India A struggles against Australia A; key players fail.

KL Rahul, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sai Sudharsan and Ruturaj Gaikwad of India A batted miserably in the four-day match against Australia A.

The Indian team management’s move to send KL Rahul back to the top of the order failed, as the right-hander was dismissed for a run-a-ball four in the four-day India A vs Australia A match that started on Thursday at the iconic MCG in Melbourne.

The only player in this India A XI to have played at the MCG before was Rahul, who was sent packing by Scott Boland in the second over of the game. India A got a horrible start after being asked to bat on a lively MCG pitch. Australia A pacers Michael Neser and Scott Boland gave India’s future stars the ‘G’ experience with the new ball.

The 30-year-old Neser struck twice in the first over, sending back Abhimanyu Easwaran (0 off 3 balls) and Sai Sudharsan (0 off 1 ball) off successive deliveries. Rahul got off the mark with a boundary but did not last long as he was sent packing by Boland, who is likely to play the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting November 22 in Perth. Next over, Neser was back in the act. The right-arm pacer sent back India A captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for 4 to reduce the visitors to 11/4 in the third over of the match.
