India aims for ODI clean sweep against South Africa in crucial final match

India’s eye whitewash against resilient South Africa.

India can complete a 3-0 series sweep when they face South Africa in the third and final ODI on Sunday. The hosts currently lead 2-0 in Bengaluru.

While chasing over 260 in the first game, India showed grit to recover from a top-order collapse. Their bowlers then defended well under pressure.

The second ODI saw South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp slam centuries. But the Indian bowlers hung in there and closed out a tight win.

Smriti Mandhana has been in sublime form, scoring unbeaten tons in both matches. Her composure has helped India immensely.

For South Africa, a victory would earn them important ICC Championship points ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. It could also lift their morale ahead of the Test and T20I matches.

But they will need major contributions with both bat and ball. The visitors have tested India at different stages through the series.

A clean sweep would be the perfect conclusion for the hosts. But they are wary of a South African fightback on the final day.

Both sides are now ready to give their all in what promises to be an exciting series decider on Sunday.
