The series is now in India’s hands after a remarkable display in the first two T20Is against Sri Lanka. With Gambhir now in charge as head coach and Suryakumar Yadav permanently in charge of the T20I format for the team, there is again no scope for the visitors or the opponents since the new team has dominated in batting and bowling.
Suryakumar Yadav has been India’s hero in the two wins that India has managed to achieve. Cross batted brilliantly with the ball and with the bat, scoring 84 runs in the two games with the help of a splendid strike rate of 221. 05, which helped the home team clinch the series.
The batting style in both these games has followed the blueprint set under Rohit Sharma’s and head coach Rahul Dravid’s earlier regime. The team’s attacking qualities have been persistent throughout the innings, especially in the power play overs.
In the second match, India’s batsmen once again failed to perform, and the bowlers ensured their team got a total of 161/9. Even though the chase was restricted to eight overs due to a heavy downpour, India’s batsmen had a rather easy time achieving the new target of 78 in 6. 3 overs.
