Indian Cricket team begins training in USA for T20 World Cup

Indian players commence training in New York ahead of T20 World Cup.

The Indian cricket contingent reached New York to begin preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Players like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and head coach Rahul Dravid landed in the first batch.

Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who participated in the IPL 2024 playoffs, joined the camp on Monday.

Bumrah and Suryakumar gave glimpses of the first training session, which involved football drills and running exercises. However, Virat Kohli is slated to travel on May 30 due to a later-scheduled visa appointment.

Reports suggest he might miss the warm-up tie against Bangladesh due to the deferred travel dates. The BCCI granted Kohli’s request, considering his prior intimation.

The talismanic batter was recently spotted at a dinner with Anushka Sharma and Zaheer Khan’s family in Mumbai ahead of his departure for the USA.

India commence their World Cup journey on June 5 versus Ireland at the newly built Nassau County stadium in New York.

The much-awaited game against arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled for June 9. After completing their Group A fixtures against the USA and Canada, the camp aims to fine-tune for the mega event under coach Dravid’s guidance.
