India’s Nassau washout: Kohli’s woes and crunch clash ahead

It was attested from India’s last match of Group A against Canada the game was washed out by the heavy rains without a single ball being bowled. The abandoned fixture deprived several Indian players including Virat Kohli, the much-needed playing time before the ominous Super Eight phase of the tournament.

Kohli was going through a rare bad patch; he scored only five runs in three innings of the series. The washout has, though, deprived the Indian side of a chance to build further momentum for itself, with the side now scheduled to next in action on June 20 against Afghanistan.

India’s campaign has been mostly good, and so has been the fielding, except few moments of misadventures they faced on the unconventional wickets of Nassau County Cricket Stadium, which was criticized for its unpredictable bounce early on in the day. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh achieved success, and the shift of Pant to the No. 3 spot has paid dividends.

The team’s batting is evidenced by Kohli’s lack of performance, and the slow pitches have not favored the batters. However, Rohit Sharma, as a captain, has been stellar in the T20 World Cup, especially in the match against Pakistan.

While India moves on to the Super Eight, the key for them to succeed in the show will depend on how they will change with every condition obtainable.
