Umpires accuse India A of ball-tampering, putting Ishan Kishan in the hot seat

Ishan Kishan In Soup After Umpires Accuse India A Of Ball-Tampering Against Australia AT The India A team on tour in Australia has been accused of ball tampering during the match against Australia A.

India A, on a tour of Australia for three unofficial Tests, has been accused of ‘ball tampering’ during the practice match against Australia A. Ahead of the start of the day’s play on Sunday, the match officials informed India A players that the ball had been changed as it was tampered with.

Umpire Shawn Craig brought the development to the Indian players’ notice during the first unofficial Test. He said: “When you scratch it, we change the ball. No more discussion, let’s play.”

The umpire objected to Kashan’s remarks and told him that he would be reported for the same.

“You will be on the report for dissent. That’s inappropriate behaviour. We changed the ball because of your (team) actions,” the umpire replied to Kashan’s dissent.

However, the officials did not mention how the Indian players could have tampered with the ball. In fact, no 5-run penalty was awarded to India A either.

The code of conduct from Cricket Australia may ban players of a team found to have deliberately altered the ball’s condition in a ball-tampering incident.

“Any action(s) likely to alter the ball’s condition which is not specifically permitted under Law 41.3.2 may be regarded as unfair,” Cricket Australia’s code of conduct reads.
