Jasprit Bumrah, Kohli shine in latest ICC test rankings after Perth win

Indian Cricket Stars Shine Bright in Latest ICC Test Rankings.

In the aftermath of India’s commanding victory over Australia in the Perth Test, three of the country’s cricket stalwarts have seen significant improvements in the prestigious ICC Test rankings.

Jasprit Bumrah, the stand-in captain who led India to a resounding 295-run triumph, has reclaimed the number one spot among bowlers, while former skipper Virat Kohli has re-entered the top 20 rankings, taking the 13th position.

The real standout, however, has been the meteoric rise of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has climbed to the second spot, challenging England’s Joe Root for the coveted number one ranking.

Jaiswal’s standout performance in the Test, which included a magnificent century in the second innings, has been a testament to his growing stature in the game. The 21-year-old, who became only the third Indian batter to score a hundred on debut in Australia, has amassed 825 points, putting him in close proximity to Root’s top spot.

Virat Kohli, the former India captain, also marked his return to form with a crucial unbeaten century in the second innings, ending his and the nation’s long wait for his 81st international ton.

Kohli’s masterclass, which included eight boundaries and two sixes, helped India post a formidable total and set up a decisive victory.

On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah’s heroics as the stand-in captain have been duly recognized, with the pace spearhead reclaiming the number one spot in the ICC rankings from South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada.

Bumrah’s match haul of 8/72, including a devastating five-wicket haul in the first innings, was instrumental in dismantling the Australian batting lineup.

The latest rankings also saw a rise for Australia’s Travis Head, who climbed three places to take the 10th spot, just three positions behind Kohli, thanks to his impressive knock of 89 in the match.

The latest ICC Test rankings serve as a testament to their unwavering skills and their ability to consistently deliver when their team needs them the most.
