Jasprit Bumrah reflects on leadership under MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma

India’s fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is widely accepted as a rare talent whose potential must be kept under lock and key. Under BCCI, Bumrah’s workload has been managed nicely, which has made him an asset to the country. Some of his astounding performances were recorded after he joined the national team of Kenya in 2016, earning him high esteem.

Bumrah, who began his international career under MS Dhoni’s leadership, recently explained how Dhoni guided him.

“MS (Dhoni) has given me a lot of security, right from the beginning. He has a lot of faith in instinct and doesn’t conform to too much pre-planning. ”

After standing down from the captaincy, Dhoni was succeeded by Virat Kohli, who led India across all formats but then relinquished the captaincy across all formats and handed over the T20 captaincy to Rohit Sharma. Bumrah pointed out that Kohli was an energetic character who brought a desire for improved fitness to the side. ‘‘Virat is still a leader, though he is not a captain anymore. The captaincy is a post, but leadership is within the team,’’ Bumrah said.

Currently, Bumrah serves under Rohit Sharma in Tests and ODIs, with Suryakumar Yadav captaining the T20Is. Yuvraj thanked Rohit for his grasping nature, which the Mumbai Indian captain empathizes with his bowlers. He also pointed out that bowlers are receptive to the feedback given to them by their captain, who also knows how they feel.

When Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020, both Kohli and Rohit bid adieu to their T20I careers at the end of the World Cup in Barbados on June 29 this year.
