Joe Root approaches Tendulkar’s test record amid brilliant form

England’s premier cricketer, Joe Root, is in the news as he has put himself in a position to emulate the great master blaster Sachin Tendulkar in the list of most runs in Test cricket. He has been in superb form, week in and week out, and at 33 years, has risen high up the ladder of the all-time highest run makers.

Root made 103 of 121 balls in the second innings of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Lord’s on the third day of the match. This inning also placed him ahead of Alastair Cook’s record of scoring the most centuries, 33 centuries, in test cricket matches, and to make a new record, Alastair needs to score 95 runs more to become the most-scored run-maker in test cricket for England team.

Rating eighth among the high-scoring Test players, Root has scored nearly 12,377 runs in 145 Test matches. Speaking about the chase of the Tendulkar’s record, Keter commented: ‘I don’t run after a hundred; I only try my best to contribute as much as possible to the team.

In a video posted by England Cricket, Root was quoted as saying, “We just want to play. We want to score runs and then see where it takes us. ” “I always feel that getting a hundred is amazing, but winning a Test match is even better than that. There is still a hunger to contribute positively to games. ”

He has been the most accomplished of them all, scoring the most runs in Test cricket, having amassed 15921 runs in 200 matches. Root, still away by 3544 runs from this mark, has been a beast for his team in the last three years, scoring 4554 runs at an average of 56 and an SR of 86 in 48 T20 matches. 92, seventeen of which are centuries and fifteen fifties.

This year, six more Test encounters are expected against Pakistan and New Zealand each, and Root is perfectly poised to climb higher in the all-time run-getters list.

In the recent cricket game against Sri Lanka, all due to Root’s outstanding performance, England has come up with a challenging mark of 483 runs. The Lankan side is currently at 53/2 in their second innings, with Dimuth Karunaratne and Prabath Jayasuriya handling the bat. This means that the England team will go into day four in a bid to ensure they get the final rites to clinch the series with a 2-0 lead.
