KKR’s Ramandeep Singh fined for IPL code breach secures playoff spot

KKR all-rounder Ramandeep Singh was fined for an IPL code breach.

KKR batsman Ramandeep Singh has been fined 20% of his match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct during his side’s victory over Mumbai Indians.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the Level 1 offense under the code. As per the statement, it involves actions outside normal cricketing play that potentially damage fixtures and fittings.

Ramandeep had played a key role in KKR’s defending of 157/7 in 20 overs after Suryakumar Yadav’s 61-ball 86 kept MI afloat in the tricky chase curtailed by rain.

The match referee took the decision and is final per the rules for a first breach. The incident is believed to have occurred when the dynamic batsman struck an aggressive shot in frustration.

His crucial 17-ball 27-run cameo had helped KKR finish well despite losing Drummond and Shreyas Iyer early.

In the following match, Ramandeep was alert on the field to dismiss MI’s Suryakumar as KKR won by 18 runs to seal a playoff berth, becoming the first team this IPL season.

The player accepted responsibility, and the fine serves as a reminder to adhere to the spirit of the game even in moments of intensity on the field.
