Kohli fined for on-field protest during RCB-KKR IPL clash

IPL 2024: Virat Kohli fined for Code of Conduct breach during KKR clash.

Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli has been fined 50% of his match fees for breaching IPL’s Code of Conduct in their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.

During RCB’s chase, Kohli was adjudged LBW off pacer Harshit Rana, which he unsuccessfully reviewed. Furious with the decision, he remonstrated while marching off.

The IPL stated that Kohli committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 by admitting to the charge. The statement mentioned that the incident and sanction were per the rules for such breaches.

Phil Salt and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s fifties, along with late fireworks, powered KKR to 222/6. Green picked two wickets for RCB.

Chasing, RCB lost openers early, but a 102-run stand between Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar steadied the innings. However, strikes from Russell and Narine disrupted the chase.

Karn Sharma’s heroics in the last over were unsuccessful as RCB fell one run short. Russell’s 3/25 earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award as KKR jumped to second with the win.

The loss kept RCB rooted to the bottom of the IPL 2024 season, and they will seek improvement in the remaining league matches.
