Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi’s cousin and former PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan passes away

During the 2003 Cricket World Cup and the 1999 tour of India, Shaharyar Khan managed the Pakistani squad.

The early 2000s saw the restoration of cricket links between India and Pakistan thanks largely to the efforts of professional diplomat and former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar Khan.

These ties had been suspended since 2007 because of strained relations between the two neighbours.

Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB’s current chairman, also sympathised with Shaharyar’s death.

“I offer the PCB’s sincere sympathies and sorrow for the loss of former Chairman Shaharyar Khan. He was an excellent administrator who gave his all to Pakistan Cricket.

“Pakistan Cricket will always be grateful to the late Shaharyar Khan for his outstanding leadership as the board’s head and for his contributions to the expansion and advancement of the national game,” Naqvi stated.
