Mohammed Siraj’s stunning catch dismisses Shakib Al Hasan in Kanpur test

Mohammed Siraj takes the incredible catch to dismiss Shakib Al Hasan.

Mohammed Siraj pulled off a sensational catch to remove well-set Bangladesh batter Shakib Al Hasan on Day 4 of the Kanpur Test.

Chasing Ashwin’s delivery, Shakib mistimed a lofted shot over mid-off. Siraj was forced to sprint backward and arch his body in an acrobatic manner to reach the ball.

With tremendous balance and reflexes, the pacer completed a stunner by clenching his left hand just before hitting the ground.

Commentators were left amazed by Siraj’s superhuman effort to pluck a catch that looked to be going past him. It was a big breakthrough as Bangladesh lost their 6th wicket.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma took a one-handed blinder off Siraj’s bowling to dismiss Litton Das. India showed quality fielding throughout the series under Rahul Dravid.

At lunch, Mominul Haque’s unbeaten ton supported Bangladesh to 205/6. But they have a steep task of avoiding an innings defeat with Mehidy at the other end.

The catch could also be Shakib’s last in Tests, having hinted at retirement. It rounded off another memorable session for the visitors to be in the driver’s seat.
